As an experienced writer for both newspapers and magazines, and as a long-time award-winning college journalism professor, I am well-positioned to either provide the writing you need or act as your writing coach to help you meet your own goals.

I have experience in freelance magazine writing. My most recent efforts have been a piece on ocean pollution and marine mammals for Bluevoice.org and a piece about the fire ant for onearth, the monthly magazine of the National Resources Defense Council. Most of my early work was for daily and a few weekly newspapers, both news and features. Lately, however, I have been writing features or feature-type opinion columns.

Many of the columns have been about the media and design, but I am also able to write about political issues, scientific and health issues and life in general. Currently, I am researching rivers for a spec piece, working on my News Design School web site, of course, and hoping to find a few more interesting writing assignments. Let me know if I can help.
